Kilkenny’s best meets Tipperary’s best…again!

The first “Who To Talk To” business event took place yesterday September 10th in Thurles LIT, Co. Tipperary.

The event was organised by the newly formed Tipperary Local Enterprise Office (“LEO” ex-CEB), and attracted hundreds of visitors. It was opened by Minister Alan Kelly and some of the best Tipperary-based enterprises were showcased, including Herdwatch, the new technology giving farmers access to easier compliance and herd management. A competition for the best stand was judged by Bobby Kerr, Insomnia Coffee CEO and Newstalk’s “Down to Business” presenter, and was won by a local Sport Memorabilia business, Mr Sports Gift.

After an earlier exchange of tweets questioning the need for Bobby Kerr to bring a helmet to Tipperary (he is a Kilkenny man), he stopped by the Herdwatch stand and it was agreed that it’s always enjoyable to watch the best of Kilkenny meet the best of Tipperary, whether in Hurling or Business!

Starting his closing presentation, Bobby cracked a few hurling jokes and then gave the crowds very honest & upbeat advice focused on retail, his area of expertise with 80 Insomnia shops and a €26 Million turnover. He specifically highlighted the need for local retail businesses to get together, have a plan for their town, and build customer loyalty.

Also presenting at the event was Sean O’Driscoll, CEO of Glen Dimplex, and a business guru in his own sector. All in all, this was a totally worthwhile event. Let’s hope it becomes a yearly feature, which would be great news for all Tipperary businesses.
