To all the Banas and Vincents

UPDATE 23/12/2016: We just donated €1,000 to 2 great causes: €500 to St Vincent de Paul + €500 to UNICEF, not bad for a day’s work #proud 😉 THANK YOU for your support, and #happychristmas

We have all heard about the plight of refugees and homeless people. This is not just a Syrian and Irish problem,

but a global, human problem, and as such we all bear some responsibility to do something about it. It’s not good enough to blame the politicians for everything, democracy may be for the people, but it is also and more importantly BY the people.

We feel inspired by charity organisations such as St Vincent de Paul, and their volunteers, the ‘Vincents’, and also by our rural and farming community, who is always ready to step in and help in a meaningful way.

So today, at Herdwatch, we want to put our money where our mouth is, and do something small but tangible and from the heart. We will donate €50 for every subscription taken up or renewed today Friday Dec 23rd 2016. Half the money raised will go to UNICEF who are helping Bana Alabed and the tens of thousands of children refugees fleeing war and persecution in Syria, and the other half will go to the Society of St Vincent de Paul who are fighting poverty in Ireland in the streets of our towns and cities, and who ran out of food yesterday in Limerick…it’s hard to believe this can happen in 2016.

We hope you will join us in this special cause, all you have to do is sign up on this page (incidentally you will also save yourself €31!)

If you don’t want to subscribe to Herdwatch (or already have), we encourage you to donate directly on the SVP and UNICEF websites – Thanks in advance, and a very Happy Christmas to you, and to all the Banas and Vincents, it will be all the better if we all do something small to help others less fortunate than us.
