‘Herd Intelligence’ Wins at British Farming Awards, Heralding a New Era for Livestock Farmers

Birmingham, 17th October 2025Herdwatch, the Irish agri-tech company, has been named a winner at the 2025 British Farming Awards, recognising its pioneering role in bringing practical artificial intelligence to livestock farming, with the world’s first context-aware AI Farm Assistant.

The award celebrates Herd Intelligence — embodied by its in-app assistant Herdi by Herdwatch — which combines deep farming know-how and local context with advanced AI to give farmers instant, trustworthy answers tailored to their own herds, directly through the Herdwatch app.

A “game-changer” livestock farmers

Already available to more than 22,000 farmers worldwide, Herd Intelligence has quickly become known for simplifying everyday decisions that often eat into a farmer’s time.

Agri-influencer, Philip Stewart, ‘Farmer Phil’, recently spoke about his excitement of how he can now use AI through Herdwatch:

“Now that I know I can ask Herd Intelligence any question related to the farm, it’s been a lifesaver. Instead of scrolling through PDFs, or trying to find information through Google on what I can spray, what kills clover, trying to find weights or whatever information I need, it just answers it there and then. It’s a game-changer”.

Andrew Darmody, a dairy and beef farmer, outlined the time-saving benefits:

“Finding one answer online could take 15 minutes. Herdi gives it to me in five seconds. That’s time back for farming, not faffing.”

James Greevy, Director of Product at Herdwatch, said the goal is to make complex farm data useful in real time:

“Farmers are drowning in data spread across too many places. Herd Intelligence brings it together — herd records, breeding information, compliance — and gives one clear answer a farmer can act on immediately. It is like having a farm manager, who is an expert in all of this plus knows everything about your herd.”

Pat Bolger, Director of Technology, highlighted privacy and trust as core design principles:

“Your farm data never leaves your account. Herd Intelligence doesn’t share it, store it, or learn from it — it’s private advice, built for you alone.”

A return to the British stage — continuing a proud legacy of innovation

This latest recognition at the British Farming Awards marks a full-circle moment for Herdwatch in the UK.

The company previously won the prestigious Prince Philip Award for Innovation in Farming (RABDF, 2016) — one of British agriculture’s highest honours — and has been recognised multiple times for its technology that helps farmers work smarter, not harder.

Its latest innovation, Herd Intelligence, was also recently crowned Champion Award Winner at Ireland’s National Ploughing Championships, underscoring its cross-border success story.
