Our Commitment to ESG

At Herdwatch, we are dedicated to responsible business practices, with a strong focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Our commitment extends beyond internal operations to how our product empowers our customers to enhance their own ESG practices.

By embedding ESG considerations into every aspect of our operations, we aim to create lasting value for all stakeholders. This forward-thinking approach not only reflects our dedication to sustainability and ethical governance but also positions Herdwatch to seize new opportunities in areas like energy efficiency within agriculture. We believe this will drive meaningful progress for our business, our customers, and the wider agricultural community in the years ahead.

Tracking Our Carbon Impact

Herdwatch is committed to understanding and managing its carbon footprint by conducting thorough self-verification of inputs across Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. In doing so, we prioritise sourcing environmentally friendly options wherever possible, reflecting our dedication to sustainability and responsible business practices.

  • Scope 1 – Direct Emissions:
Emissions from sources directly controlled by Herdwatch, including gas and oil usage, office waste, emissions from air conditioning or refrigerants, and company-owned or leased vehicles.
  • Scope 2 – Indirect Emissions:
Emissions from purchased electricity and energy sourced from third-party providers.
  • Scope 3 – Other Indirect Emissions:
A broad range of indirect emissions, such as material usage, employee commuting and remote working, waste management, business travel, procured services, and water consumption.

By systematically tracking and addressing emissions across all scopes, Herdwatch aims to reduce its environmental impact while fostering sustainable growth.

Supporting Our Customers’ Environmental Goals

At Herdwatch, we recognize that one of the most impactful ways we can contribute to sustainability is by empowering our customers to track and manage their carbon emissions. With agriculture increasingly under scrutiny for its environmental impact, this capability is more critical than ever.

Herdwatch is developing a comprehensive Farm-to-Fork Data Integration platform for food producers, market suppliers, and end users. This innovative system will enable farmers to record and track every input involved in producing an animal, including:

  • Fertilizers and feeds used,
  • Transportation undertaken,
  • Farming practices with insetting benefits.

Farmers will be able to calculate their carbon footprint accurately and highlight improvements driven by sustainable practices. This integrated data will also allow food producers to determine the total carbon footprint of food products, providing transparency and accountability throughout the supply chain, from farm to fork.

By bridging the gap between producers and consumers, Herdwatch aims to facilitate a more sustainable and environmentally conscious agricultural industry.

Social Responsibility

At Herdwatch, we are committed to building strong, positive relationships with our stakeholders by fostering diversity, inclusion, fair labor practices, and meaningful investment in our local community. Our stakeholders include:

  • The Local Community: Supporting Roscrea, where our headquarters are based.
  • Customers: Providing value-driven solutions that empower their businesses.
  • Employees: Cultivating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
  • Investors: Ensuring sustainable and ethical business growth.

In recent years, we have intentionally expanded our operations in ways that align with these values, demonstrating our commitment to social responsibility across all aspects of our business.

Governance Practices

Herdwatch is dedicated to maintaining transparent, ethical, and responsible governance practices, minimising risks such as fraud and ensuring full legal compliance.

Key components of our governance strategy include:

  • Management Oversight: Active oversight from business leaders and our board of directors to ensure strategic alignment and ethical operations.
  • Third-Party Compliance: Engaging professional services firms to ensure adherence to laws and regulations in all jurisdictions we operate, including employee law, tax law, and audit requirements.

By adhering to these practices, Herdwatch ensures accountability, integrity, and trustworthiness as we grow and operate across multiple regions.
