Take a look below for frequently asked questions and answers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Which animals will I receive a payment for weighing under the BEEP?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Suckler calves (beef sire x beef dam) born between<strong> 1st Jul 2018 to 30th Jun 2019.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>And their dams.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>When do I have to weigh my animals<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Weights must be recorded from <strong>8<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><strong> March to 1<\/strong><strong><sup>st<\/sup><\/strong><strong> November 2019<\/strong>. Having weighed the animals on farm, weights must be submitted to the ICBF database within 7 days of the weighing event.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is the optimum time to weigh a suckler cow and calf?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The optimum time to weigh a cow and her calf is when the calf is between 150-250 days (5-8 months) of age. Calves must be weighed before they are weaned. You do, however, have to weigh a cow and her calf on the same day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Can I weigh a cow and her calf on different days?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No, each cow\/calf pair <strong>must be weighed on the same day<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Where a cow has twins, do I have to weigh both calves?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Payment will be made on each cow\/calf pair weighed. A cow with twins is seen as two cow\/calf pairs. If the cow and only one twin are weighed, you will only be paid for one cow\/calf pair. If the cow and both twins are weighed, you will be paid for two cow\/calf pairs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How many times do I have to weigh my animals for BEEP?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each cow calf pair must be <strong>weighed once to be deemed eligible for payment<\/strong>. Again, it is important to remember that each cow and her calf must be weighed on the same day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Can I weigh animals in groups e.g. weigh a group of animals in a trailer on a weighbridge?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No, animals must be weighed singly using a weighing platform in a cattle crush. Weighing must be carried out on your farm. Mart weights or any other weights recorded off-farm will not be accepted for BEEP.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Can I use my own weighing scales?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, you can use your own scales and record the weights yourself. The weighing scales must be registered with ICBF before you submit weights.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How do I register my weighing scales?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This can be done by logging into the ICBF website (<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20211025175859\/http:\/\/www.icbf.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.icbf.com<\/a>) with your username and password. Under the \u2018Services\u2019 dropdown, select \u2018BEEP\u2019 and then select \u2018View\/Register Own Scales\u2019. Here you enter the:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make\/model of the scales\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Year of purchase\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Serial number\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If I don\u2019t own a weighing scales, how will I weigh my animals?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A Rental model weighing scales &#8211;<\/strong> Scales are available for farmers to rent from the BEEP network (<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20211025175859\/http:\/\/www.mybeep.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.mybeep.ie<\/a>)\u00a0<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Owned, borrowed or using a third party service providers\u2019 scales &#8211;<\/strong>This is where a farmer can use their own scales or one belonging to a third party.Participants using owned, borrowed or using a third party service providers weighing scales will have to pre-register these scales with ICBF as per the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20211025175859\/https:\/\/www.agriculture.gov.ie\/media\/migration\/farmingschemesandpayments\/beep\/BEEPTC.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>T &amp; C\u2019s.<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>FRS Weighing Technician Service <\/strong>&#8211; is a nationwide service available to any farmer wishing to comply with the BEEP scheme. An FRS Weighing Technician will come to your farm with a registered scales and complete weighing. All you need to do is submit the weighing results onto the BEEP database within 7 days of the animal being weighed.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How do I submit weights to ICBF after weighing my animals?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can enter weights using:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Farm Software (Herdwatch)- <\/strong>Weights recorded through Herdwatch will automatically be sent to ICBF which means you will get the benefit of better reporting from ICBF.
