{"id":8226,"date":"2019-01-24T11:06:54","date_gmt":"2019-01-24T11:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/herdwatch.com\/calf-registration-in-seconds\/"},"modified":"2019-01-24T11:06:54","modified_gmt":"2019-01-24T11:06:54","slug":"calf-registration-in-seconds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/herdwatch.com\/en-ie\/calf-registration-in-seconds\/","title":{"rendered":"Calf registration in seconds"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">With calving about to get into full swing in the next couple of weeks, we wanted to give you a quick reminder on registering calves with Herdwatch and the new features that we have added to make it easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>ICBF Sync:<\/strong> You can download any previous breeding information by linking Herdwatch with your ICBF account. \u00a0You can do this in the settings menu or by <a href=\"\/\/connectIcbf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">clicking here.\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scanning the Tag: <\/strong>You can now add the calf tag number by scanning the barcode on the tag or the white card.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pedigree Information:<\/strong> If you record your pedigree information in Herdwatch then it will flow to ICBF and your breed society automatically.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Calf Birth Weights:<\/strong> You can now record a calf birth weight when registering a calf.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Calf registration made easy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">As you know, calves must be registered within 27 days of birth by law, and we&#8217;re here to help you do this quickly, properly and on time. Follow this tutorial and you&#8217;ll have your calves registered in 30 seconds or less.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&gt; Tap the\u00a0<strong>Orange Plus (+) Button.<\/strong><br>&gt; Tap\u00a0<strong>Register a Calf.<\/strong><br>&gt;\u00a0<strong>If you have breeding records in Herdwatch then<\/strong>\u00a0you will be shown a list of cows due to calve in the next 2 weeks.<br>&gt; Tap the cow that has calved.<br>&gt;\u00a0Select the<strong> Gender.<\/strong><br>&gt;<strong> Scan t<\/strong>he barcode on the calf tag<strong>.<br><\/strong>&gt;Tap\u00a0<strong>Save<\/strong>\u00a0in the top right hand corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What does the farmer say?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Denis Burke is a dairy farmer from Kilmaine, Co. Mayo. This west of Ireland farmer milks 130 spring calving Friesian cows. Last year alone, Denis registered over 100 calves using Herdwatch which has saved him an estimated 16 hours or roughly 10 minutes per calf. Denis registers the calves as they are born using Herdwatch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cBefore Herdwatch I would let calf registrations pile up and as a result some calves could go over the 27 day limit which was a real problem.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">With Herdwatch, this is no longer a problem because he registers the calves as he is tagging them.&nbsp;Calf registration&nbsp;couldn&#8217;t&nbsp;be easier, simply scan the tag or white card to register a calf.&nbsp;Another added benefit is that mistakes are harder to make as the calf and dam are right there in front of you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThe calves are registered before the kettle is boiled\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Denis is one of over 8000 farmers using Herdwatch to save hours every day on farm paperwork.&nbsp;Herdwatch is fully compliant with Bord Bia and conforms with quality assurance standards.
