This weekend the Herdwatch team proudly attended the 35th annual National Dairy Show, in Millstreet, Co. Cork. As promised it was a fun filled day for family and trader alike. At the event, Herdwatch participated in the National Dairy Show Innovation Awards. The awards aim to reward a new product or service, which has been launched in the past 12 months. One that has revolutionised some aspect of dairy farming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Herdwatch team recognised the National Dairy Show Innovation Awards as the perfect opportunity to showcase our new Farm Medicine Scanner on the day. The Farm Medicine Scanner is aimed at all farmers- beef, dairy, tillage and sheep. It has bountiful benefits for users, the preeminent being making life easier for the farmer as well as ensuring their always\u00a0compliant . The initial inspiration for the Farm Medicine Scanner came from the fact that recording farm medicines has been a constant challenge for farmers for years. With this we created a piece of software to make it much easier for farmers to record their medicines by allowing them to record purchases and treatments on the spot using the Herdwatch app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We built a smart Barcode scanner into the Herdwatch app that allows farmers to simply scan their farm medicines into the app using the camera on their smartphone. The sheer efficiency of this technology is that the Herdwatch app can recognise a Barcode and can identify what medicine it is and what its corresponding VPA (IRE) or VMD (UK) number is. If there is a QR code available, the app will also be able to automatically pull in the Batch-number and Expiry date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our innovation did not go unnoticed as we received first prize in the technology category, before later being announced as the Overall Winner of the NDS Innovation Awards as well. We are truly passionate about providing next level technology for members. Offering not only the most up to date software but one that is extremely user friendly and accessible. As the first in our class to provide this software to users. It goes to show as the number One farm management App you\u2019ve to stay on top, to be on top!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
