What are Mobs?
In Herdwatch, a ‘Mob’ is different to a ‘Group’ of livestock. The new Mobs feature allows you to keep tabs on the exact location, number, and grazing history of your livestock. Each animal can belong to only one Mob at a time, ensuring that you have clear and organised management of your herd/flock.
The benefit of using Mobs:
- Real-time: Know what field your livestock are in at any given moment.
- Grazing insights: Access records of your livestock’s previous grazing locations to optimise pasture usage.
- Streamlined management: With Mobs, you can efficiently manage your herd or flock without confusion, making it easier to track individual animal needs.
How to create your first mob
Open the Herdwatch App: On your Home Screen, tap the orange plus button and select ‘Create Mob.’
Set up your Mob: You’ll be directed to the Pasture section of the app. Enter a Mob Name, choose how you want to sort your animals, select a Field or Paddock, and add any notes you find relevant.
Select your animals: Choose the animals you want to add to this Mob and click ‘Save.’Review your Mob profile: Once saved, you’ll see the Mob Profile, which displays all the details about your newly created Mob.
Accessing the Mob profile
- From the Pasture home screen, select ‘Pasture & Maps.’
- Click on ‘Mobs’ and choose your desired Mob.
- View the Mob Profile to check current locations, days in that location, and the number of animals.
Moving Mobs between fields?
- Select ‘Move Mob’ from the Home screen.
- Choose Your Mob: Select the Mob you want to move and the Field for relocation.
- Record Details: Enter the Entry Date, Time, Exit Date, and any other important notes.
- Save Your Changes: Click ‘Save’ to finalise the move.
